Currently Loving: Video Lookbooks

Sometimes we have one of those days where we just don’t know what to wear. We’ll be in a really big “I want to look super cute and awesome” kind of mood, but just can’t seem to put anything together that looks just right. On days like these, we like to take a little style inspiration from different look books that feature looks by designers or companies/stores. A big trend recently is going beyond print and creating fashion look book videos. They are more editorial and tend to give a sense of the mood and lifestyle of what the designer and collection are all about. It also serves to give you ideas on how to wear the items from the collections that are currently out or items that the store is offering. We love being able to see  how collections from some of our favorite stores are being shown more and more through video look books. Take a look at some of our favorites that we have found. Everything in the videos from the amazing cinematography and music, to the styling and just overall creativity creates some pretty wonderful style inspiration.

Steven Alan Fall Collection

While reading the always lovely blog, Oh Joy!, we came across the website for fashion retailer and designer, Steven Alan. His website states that he has spent the past 15 years “creating a mini fashion world grounded in classic American roots — fashioned with a twist.” We are loving this video of the Steven Alan Fall 2011 Presentation at Pier 59 – It’s so cool to hear the inspiration behind a body of work. While it is much too warm to be wearing these clothes in Savannah, it makes us excited to wear patterned tights and scarfs soon. Fall is getting closer…sort of.
