The idea behind creating works with collage is an interesting concept to us. That being that collage artists often take already existing images in order to communicate their notion. The process of transformation could be drastic or very minimal. James Gallagher has a more oppressive approach when it comes to collaging. He pieces together a variety of images in order to create reflections of his surrounding, resulting  with work that has a heavy sexual connotation. That creates an enjoyable juxtaposition for us. Collage is a medium commonly taught and used by young children. So for Gallagher to be using a medium of adolescence to portray such suggestive and adult concepts seems rather ironic. We are not sure if it is intentional or not, engaging non the less. His mixture of paper textures, faint color transitions, small peaks of type and with the addition of bold figures are extremely attractive to us. His powerful point of view is also very admirable.
